At the end of his thoughts when he says he is rewinding the tape, the song Castle is everything leading up to Eminem’s overdose and Arose is Eminem’s thoughts after he ODs and is in the hospital. In Shady Till I Die, Eminem announces once again that he is quitting rapping. This is so When I’m Gone can provide closure on the Slim Shady saga. In real life, this song comes before My Darling, but in terms of the album My Darling comes first. When I’m Gone has Eminem officially killing Slim Shady. The first few songs are just regular rap songs like Welcome to Detroit and Smack That. The Overdose disc is very much like Relapse’s Refill disc. After the curtains close, Eminem goes backstage and shoots himself. In It’s Been Real, Eminem announces his retirement and thanks everyone who he has worked with. The last few songs talk about Eminem’s depression, his best friend’s (Proof of D12) death and him claiming that he is the greatest of all time at rapping. After the Breaking News skit the album becomes more serious and story-oriented. This song leads into Syllables, which is about this as well, but with six verses talking about it instead of the one in I Get Money. In the song I Get Money, Eminem talks about his frustrations with the current (or current when this album takes place) state of the rap game. The first song is My Darling, which is about Slim Shady and his return. In this skit, the curtains open and Eminem walks on stage. The album starts off with a Curtains Up skit like The Eminem Show (2002) and Encore (2004). Many songs on these mixtapes were from the King Mathers era. In 2011, songs on two mixtapes (Straight From the Lab 2 and Straight From the Vault) from 2005-2010 leaked. However, after he overdosed, Eminem decided to make Relapse in 2009 and continue making music. King Mathers would’ve been Eminem’s follow up to his 2004 album Encore and it would’ve been his final album.
